Struggling with thread milling

Just wanted to thank everyone, threads turned out good. Didnt break anything the first time around.

To anyone who is looking here in the future, i used this guide to calculate feeds and speeds, it was dead nuts. 4140 pre hard, 5/8x24 threads. Ran 5730 rpm with 11 ipm

Only thing i want to note is on the thread depth i set it to -.005 initially so my thread would be tighter but i probably should go -.007 or 8 because the cap was a little loose. I really need a go/no go gauge.

Instructions are clear on the harvey tool guide but here are Feeds and speeds calculations i did in case someone needs to visualize how its done on paper.

If you can find that spreadsheet that they reference in that video (my modified copy below, change the .pdf to .xlsx) the calculator for me was dead nuts on. No dialing in.

I added in additional data but the calculator works great.
