Start And Finish Cut Points Of A Part Don't Align

Hi. I just got my Crossfire Pro working. I have an issue with the start of the cut and the finish point of the part not aligning. The part in the pic, the longer sides are Y-axis, where I start and finish, but it seems like the issue is with the X-axis controlling the width. I cut a different part and had the same issue on those parts as well. Any help is appreciated.

Check that the motor coupler set screws are tight and that the end bearing cap screws and mount are all tight. Do you have a dial indicator? If yes, then you can measure backlash instead of burning metal to verify that you have no backlash.

Did you get this problem resolved? I’m having the same issue. I never saw this problem on my Original Crossfire table.

there are a couple of reasons for misaligned cuts…

  1. motor couplers are often the problem…you need a good flashlight to see if they slipping…tighten them up.
  2. if your gantries are not free and smooth then it strains the motor and coupler and they could slip… firecontrol does not know if it binds or not…so even a little bind, the program will move forward but the cut does not follow.
  3. if you do not have torch height control and your tip possibly touches the work piece ic can shift the workpiece just a bit to cause misalignment
  4. just like tip drag…a small pice can tip up and get bumped by the torch…moving the work piece also

Thanks for the tips. I see the alignment to be worse on thicker metals (3/8-1/2"). The metal is not moving since it is a 4x8 sheet. I will check the lead screws again.

Yes, I believe I resolved the issue. I did not have the roller bearings adjusted correctly on the X-Axis carriage assembly during the Z-Axis tramming adjustment, which allowed the Z-axis assembly to rock and move a bit. Specifically, the lower two bearing were out of adjustment.
