I have several SMW fixed vise ends with some other parts: bolts and misc stuff. I sold my vises, and these are leftover parts taking up my machine toolbox.
They are accessible to whoever answers first. Here at the Langmuir forum, we call this Pay it Forward. In turn, help or do something nice for others here on the page.
I donāt have an exact count on the parts, but at least two. Fixed side only⦠Update all the parts in the morning.
Totally Free, they need to go to an individual who can get use out of them.
PM me your address, and I will send them to you tomorrow morning. I will also let you know all my partsālots of bolts, extra hardened jaw inserts, and soft jaws. I hated my SMW. I have not lost a part out of the vises since.
Could you pay it forward? Do something good for a forum member.
I hated my SMW. I have not lost a part out of the vises since.
Iād like to hear more about your experience with them. I have the plates and the vises (which werenāt cheap). I havenāt been able to use them yet but my hope was that their modularity would be beneficial.
Well, Itās like this. You either love them or hate them. I hated them. I could not get them to hold parts to save my life. Yes, I torqued them and watched all the videos to see how great they are. If you are making small trinkets, then they will work. If youāre putting a $150 block of T6, then I say no.
After 10 or 15 lost parts, I parked them in the toolbox. I sold them both a week or so later. I have not lost a part in the Langmuir vises since. I am now ready for the hate mail and YouTube videos. Not to mention the emails I will now get telling me how wrong I was. All I know is I have not lost a single cent in aluminum and Stainless since.
well, it would be nice if people didnāt throw hate for just describing your experience with them, which is all I asked for. Iām glad to have the insight and it is something I can watch for when I try them out.
