SMW dual vise setup

I’m setting up two SMW vises. And I indicated the pallets within . 001 of each other then I mounted the vise Jaws and they are off .005 from each other. My question is would you relocate one of the pallets by indicating off the edge of the vise faces or is that actually acceptable tolerance for what it is. It would be nice to have a one piece pallet at some point. It would take a lot of this alignment time out.

I recommend adjusting the pallets such that the vise jaws are in alignment to eachother. This will make it possible to clamp longer pieces into both vises without causing an alignment error.

Thanks Danny, figured aligning the pallets would be right on the money. But there is room for error between parts I guess. I’ll redo it.

Wouldn’t be too hard to machine one yourself, if someone doesn’t post a cad file I will at some point.

I’ll probably end up making alignment bars that will lock the two of them together.
