Sheetcam to Firecontrol issue

This might have been asked already but I have not found anything yet. I’m sorry if I am missing it. My issue is when I do the G-code in Sheetcam and then open the .tap file in Firecontrol the item I want to cut is never on the table. Most things are SVG files that I have created in Inkscape. I have been able to get it on the table and cut once. I have gone thru the settings in Sheetcam several time and they all look correct. Can someone please tell me what I am missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated and help my frustration.

Do you have limit switches?

Are you setting your X/Y zero at the same place as your origin in Sheetcam? Upper left or lower left corner of where you want your design on the table.

Yes i have limit switches.

In Sheetcam i have it in the lower left corner. How do i tell where it is in Firecontrol?

First you need to understand that “home” if probably not where you want to start unless you know how to program using work coordinates.

There are two tabs in the DRO (digital read out) section of Firecontrol. One is the “home” tab, where the machine goes when you home it with the limit switches.

The other is the “work” tab. This is where you tell Firecontrol where you want to start your program.

If your origin is in the lower left corner(which is the most common location), you need to jog the torch to where you want that lower left corner of your design on the table. Then go to the “work” tab in the DRO section and hit “zero all axis”.

Do that before opening your cut file and your file will be on the table.

If you open the file with the X/Y zero at the “home” position, it will be off the table.

That worked perfectly. Thank you very much. That saved me a lot of frustration.
