I’ll do my best to even describe this issue I’m having. I havent even attempted to do anything but cut things I find on Fireshare. If it downloads like this screenshot shows I can put in sheetcam and then to fire control succesfully cut it. If it downloads without this option it will not go to fire control. Granted I have absolutely no idea what I am doing. I hope this makes sense to someoone who can offer some assistance. FYI I bought sheetcam vs trying to use the free version.
Do you have a file you are trying to convert?
If you download a cut ready file it will be ready for fire control.
Can you share the file you are working with?
It sounds like you are relying on NC and/or TAP files. These go straight into Firecontrol for cutting.
These are actual G code files, and the screen you see there just allows you to alter two parameters from that of the original program.
This allows one to cut the pattern out of a different material type/thickness as they will require different speeds and/or delays.
When you download an SVG or DXF, why not just take that to Sheetcam and process it yourself?
If I get this when I download (even if it says cut ready) it does not show in my fire control when I try to open a file.
Read my response.
The screenshot you show there for the Laptop Stand is a DXF.
This file type is an image file, and requires the end user to create the G code for it.
I think I may just need to watch more sheet cam videos. I can do nothing in sheetcam. I been at this for over a week. I appreciate the help. I’ll get there, just not quite as soon as I was hoping.
Well I know nothing about Sheetcam but we can figure it out if you’d like.
I just so happen to be free if you need to jump on Zoom otherwise I can go over Fusion 360 very well to help there.
I’ll gladly take any help I can get
Gotcha.
I must’ve found the wrong one then because I looked up Matthew Cromwell and the download says dxf in the name
@tobyjsands , it appears @Kwikfab has you covered.
If at some point you’d like some tried and true sheetcam how-to info, see these link for references.
I’ll have to watch those myself.
I don’t own Sheetcam but I’ve been using Fusion for a few years now. I often get a direct message on FB asking if I can help on Sheetcam
Thank you all very much. I should be on my way to success.
So you create and save from fire control you can find a .tap saved in your downloads folder?
Most of the files that you download from Fireshare will be ZIP files that you have to extract before they can be used.
If you don’t know how to do that, just Google how to extract zip files.
Are you hitting the post process button?
He just needed help distinguishing from different file types.
I confirmed he has the post processor installed as well as having his tool library in Sheetcam.
From there, the videos that @sheetcamCS2 posted will help so he can create his own g-code from DXF and/or SVG files.
Can fire control see a .ngc file?
Usually sheetcam saves as a .tap and I think it can save a a .nc. looks like attempted to save a a .ngc
The issue wasn’t about creating the NGC/tap file.
The issue was not understanding the difference between a g-code file, and an image file.
If you look at the screenshot, you’ll see no actual cut paths are displayed as he hasn’t gone through using Sheetcam before. Hence the videos will help to create his g-code.
He has only ever cut files that he downloaded directly from Fireshare.
