Razorweld 45 cutting issue(Solved)

It could be EMI. I will wait for the video. Laptop or computer? Is the laptop plugged into a charger? Does the table pass the Ohms test? Are the cables ty wrapped together?

It should be zero ohms or an open circuit.

HP laptop, not plugged into charger, haven’t ohm tested the cables, the thc and torch fire cable was ziptied together but now are not

Test the table like in the picture. The table to the ground shield is on the printer-style USB plug.
I have to believe it is something stupid if the Fireshare files are cut without any issues.

Thats what i was saying, even the firecontrol files are cutting the same as my files. One of the pictures posted are of the straight cut file

I need to bring my multimeter hope from work tonight to ohm, but once again it stopped firing right, did a thc test, the test failed, took the cover off the control box, loosened a couple munting screws(although it has the plastic insulators), thc test passed but still doing the weird cut thing, did a thc test again and it passed but with a different voltage reading than before. Idk this thing is doing some random spirratic stuff. This morning I cut 10 small light tabs back to back with no issues, then started doing it again

We need to get the multi-meter. Something is likely touching inside the Langmuir controller. Make sure the printer-style USB does not touch the housing. We have seen it before.

Do you have the hand torch for your Razorweld ?

If you like you can call me and we can do a few test to see if its the plasma cutter, wiring or something else.

So I am actually getting a tiny ohm reading, about 3.78 kiliohms, but nothing on the “continuity” setting. The usb connection isnt touching the case also

Unfortunately they didnt send me a hand torch, just the machine torch. And yeah if you want to shoot me a message with your number thatd be cool, im out of ideas lol

Sorry guys, I’m a little late to the party and I don’t want to hijack this thread, but…

The above post by @Bigdaddy2166 intriqued me. So here is my Razorweld 45 torch setup.

Apparently this is wrong?

So do I move that “bottom clamp” to one of the upper holes instead of using that bottom hole?

Move the red langmuir clamp up on the carriage and re-secure the torch, as shown in the picture. Then send @mechanic416 a dollar.

This electrode must be able to move up and snap down. Clamping it where you had it could bind up the electrode and cause misfires.

Problem solved! Finally cut some .250 stainless.

You were correct on the regulator being bad in the machine, bypassed it and put an external on the back and its now only dropping 5psi and cutting like a champ. Thanks for your help again man!

For those that are having a similar problem, I wasnt sure what the pressure drop when the torch fires is supposed to be and didnt think anything of it(I knew it would drop a little), when the torch kicked on it would drop 15psi or more and cause the plunger in the torch head to do some wonky stuff. Talked to mechanic416 on the phone and in 5 minutes he figured the problem out!

Glad you got it all worked out. Remember George when you need consumables.

And thank you @Blaisehudson for posting the results.

All too often people get help then you never hear from them again.

Posting your results really does help others. :+1: :+1:

Also as far as the torch mount goes, I actually turned mine upside down and moved the one clamp up a few holes, worked out well

Thank @Blaisehudson

Dropping the top mount point '1 notch" worked for me.

If your plasma cutter is working OK that’s fine. If you need a kit to replace the internal regulator let me know.

I checked the torch on my XR, but the red bracket does not have holes such that I could arrange the clamps to avoid the front end of the torch. Is the bracket different on the XR?

Did anyone comment on this as I am getting the same and my torch is not firing at all. All new consumables from Langmuir, clamped properly and lots of dry air, but no fire or air when I try and dry fire. My Ohm reading is the same and inconsistent but no higher than 4.15.

Start a new thread with your problems. Likely different issue.

Make sure to post all of your settings,

Model of Plasma cutter
Amps
Air Pressure
Cut speed
Pierce height
Pierce delay

THC On of Off
