Random IHS Errors

Not sure what’s going on. My pro will do a good cut and then when I start a new cut of the same file it tries to get the height and then just keeps going up. I can restart the cut sometimes and it works, other times it repeats. I replaced the consumables. Any thoughts? Please see the video.

The forum will not let me upload a video so please see the link in YouTube.

Thanks!

That looks like the IHS switch is sticking open. It could be getting hung up on the lead screw and falling to close when the Z carriage raises. It should only raise 1/2” and fail though. I’m not sure why it would keep going like that.

What’s with that weird jog between the last cut and the failed cut?

It’s definitely not going to have anything to do with the plasma cutter or consumables.

Could be one of the attachment rings for the IHS wires too loosening as it goes down and tightening as it goes back up?

Not sure what the weird jog is. It’s just the path fusion created.

By attachment rings, do you mean the two wires connecting to the rear of it? I was thinking it might have got gunk on it and it’s loosing good contact.

Yeah this one.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try tomorrow.

Problem Solved.

I unbolted one pully and was able to get to the assembly.

It was not the wires going into it but rather the contacts. I simply scraped them clean, reassembled and it’s all good now.
