Program issues (sheet cam) :(

I’m pretty new to the MR-1 gantry mill, so I’m not sure if I should be trying to create g-code this way, but I’ve been trying to use a fusion file plugged into sheet cam to get me a line of g-code for my MR-1. So far, I’ve had issues with the tool path getting scaled down by large quantities when transferring the file from sheet cam to cut control.

I was wondering how I could fix this problem (obviously) but more specifically if this is a post processor problem or if you guys think this is another type of error. I’ve been using CNC master so far, but let me know what you guys think.

Assuming you created the file in inches within Fusion you need to be sure you are selecting Inches when you bring it into SheetCam

Why are you trying to use Sheetcam as opposed to creating the NC file directly in Fusion? I use sheetcam for my plasma and it’s way easier than fusion. Never heard of anyone trying to use Sheetcam for the MR1.
Something I noticed when I changed my plasma tap.file programs from fusion to sheetcam was a great reduction in lines of code. I was really struggling at first with fusion so bought Sheetcam and never looked back. But now with the mill and also an xcarve I’m back to Fusion.

Ditch the SheetCam and work in Fusion if that’s the program you want to use. You need to start watching the MR1 videos and Fusion CAM videos. If you don’t, this is going to be a long ride.

As of now I don’t know how to work that manufacture feature in Fusion very well so I was trying to work around that. My employer has sheetcam so I was trying to use it to avoid learning that fusion feature. That being said, if you guys recommend that I learn to make the nc code using fusion, I think I’ll start learning how to do that. Thanks for all of the help guys, I do really appreciate it.

Yes definitely stick with the fusion on this one. It’s a steep curve but you’ll get it. The best way to get it is to play around with it. Make sure you watch your simulations very closely and you’ll get it before you know it.
