Probe Issues: Easy fix

So I was having some issues getting the probe out of the spindle and it ended up dropping and broke the top. It was still good for z probing though. But I noticed it was out of square so I went to align it and ended up getting to a point where it wasn’t moving at all.

So if you are having troubles getting your probe aligned or the screws aren’t working this may help you.

I took the probe apart and noticed it was held in square by 3 spherical screws that are moved by 3 nuts on the probe face.

It was very easy to realize after I fully backed out the 3 screw that the initial problem was that I had backed one of them out to far and the mechanism inside came loose and was preventing me from effecting the probe alignment.

So if this happens to you it’s super easy to take the back shaft plate off and put the screws back in their intended places. It is all held in place by a spring so be careful to not send things flying when you take it off.

Also the small set screws on the top of the black part are there to shift the shaft closer or further away from center by pushing on the small ridge on the shaft. Where the three screws on the probe face are for tilt.

Just thought I’d share the inside of the prove and my experience for anyone that is having issues with their probe.

Now to order some new probe tips.
