Prime weld cut 60 wiring questions using divided voltage

My brother uses a water table but also turns on a fan toward the open garage door before starting his cuts. In summertime I’m sure a good fan will do the trick, but in winter, OK, some kind of exhaust vent from under the table sucking/blowing out the garage window. Sounds like if you’ve seen systems like this there is a problem with dust in the air without something to gather it. Thank you.

Most downdraft systems vent to the outside. I fill my water pan til it overflows. I still have a large amount of metal dust. I wear a respirator when cutting especially when doing long burns.

With either system you will still need to address the metal dust. I would recommend using a good respirator to start. Then as much ventilation as possible.

Sorry, rookie here. Does this mean the new 60s are plug and play with the crossfire pro? If not, what does wiring “raw” actually mean?…pics would help, lol.

yes, the newly redesigned cut60 works fine running divided voltage from the CNC port. Some of the older models had issues running divided voltage so its suggested to run Raw voltage straight from the lugs on the inside of the cutter.

What Nica said.

No one’s run raw on the new CUT60 so you won’t find any pics, but the guys at PrimeWeld confirmed the voltage divider is completely new and redesigned.

Looks like an old thread of mine. Like others said, Raw means using high voltage direct from machine output. The divider steps this voltage down to be more managable. For instance 50:1 means 50 volts primary = 1 volt secondary. Still to this day running divided voltage without issues on my CUT 60.

I have had some issues with the torch on the Cut 60. The electrodes would get stuck in that blow back fitting. Ruined that fitting twice trying to remove electrodes. The second time needed to buy new torch head $80-$90 bucks. So I keep a close eye on them and only thread them hand tight and check them often. They can loosen much easier that way but that solved the issue for me. I’m happy with the cut 60 for the price. I do think that blowback fitting could be redesigned. They said it’s cause I don’t have air dryer. I say the blowback fitting sucks. Lol. There is no where to hold when unthreading electrode, If you end up spinning it while removing electrode seems to ruin it for good. Then torch won’t fire.
