Postprocessor for Solidcam?

I am starting to play with solidworks for makers and solidcam for makers for my hobby. Will the solidwork post processor work for Solidcam as well? If not is there a plan to issue one for it @langmuir-jake ?
Thanks

Good morning @Speppino. Yeah I’ve heard from a few guys who are using our post processor with Solidcam so it should work smoothly. If you end up using it, let me know if anything comes up and I’ll our programmers we’ll get on it.

SolidworksCAM and SolidCAM are different developers. SolidworksCAM is developed by the same company that made Solidworks, Dassault Systems.

SolidCAM is made by SolidCAM Ltd. a 3rd party developer that makes CAM addons for several of the CAD software developers.

Each CAM developer has their own post-processing methods so they are not interchangeable.

People very often confuse SolidworksCAM and SolidCAM, but they’re completely different. One is absolutely amazing and the other is SolidworksCAM :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hi Jake, is it possible for you guys to work on a post processor for solidcam for makers. As Dre stated in this thread, Solidcam is not the same as solidworks cam.
This will be very helpful for people tired of using the limited functions of fusion360 for makers. Thanks in advance.

Hey @Speppino, we definitely plan on adding another post processor specifically for Solidcam in the future. We’re mostly just waiting for our programming team to have more free time since they’re stretched pretty thin over a few projects.
I’m not sure about a timeframe for that release but we’ll send out update emails and here on the forum once we get closer to finishing it.

You guys need to hook up your programmers with some AI to better support all these projects.
