Peirce delay only working on first cut

That makes sense now. Thank you for clarifying. I would keep increasing the pierce delay with fireControl even if you get it up to the 1.5 seconds. It could be worn consumables. If the nozzle gets even a bit oblong or enlarged, you will lose the focus of the stream even if the electrode is good.

Ill give that a try. What is odd is its consistency of working on the first cut. I can have a program with 2 small cuts. The first will delay and the second will not. I can instantly run that program a second time and it will do the same thing. Delay on the first cut but not the second.

Like I said put it in tip saver. Were you have it its for expanded metal when hand cutting.

@TinWhisperer explained that earlier: there is an additional delay that FireControl puts in with the first piercing. It is abnormally long with respect to the desired outcome with finer cut pieces.

For what you are doing, the longer delay causes no problems but you might notice on 16 gauge steel and with artwork. To anticipate the longer delay on the first piercing, some people like @TinWhisperer explain that they will make a first piercing in a sacrificial piece of metal that is later cut away.

Interesting. The only reason I question that is because everlast says not to use tip saver with cnc.

Just do it.

@jtpfarm …that is what I was looking for… @mechanic416 George is right…
Place it on tip saver…

george has forgotten more than most of us will learn about plasma…

also watch your air pressure make sure your cut pressure at all times is around 60psi…
