Nominal Voltage

Anyone use Nominal Voltage instead of SmartV for cutting 20 gauge mild steel? I am not following the instructions for figuring out volts to set. It says to run a line test 8"-10" but turn off the electronics box and disconnect THC from box???

As I understand it, smart voltage is unreliable thinner than 14ga. You are to set the voltage manually instead of letting it choose the target voltage. The higher the voltage you choose, the bigger the gap.

I did some 20ga cutting, but I can’t say that I had the voltage setting dialed in, so I won’t advise as to what you should start at for dialing it in.
