Mrs Bigdaddy2166 is an astronomy buff. We have an Orion 12" x 70" telescope. I flipped out to see a nebula for the first time. See makes me drag it out a hour or two before dark to let the mirror stabilize.
Well, thats my telescope story.
This is a new facet to the BigDaddy Saga that I have not heard before!
I take it outside, smoke cigars, and listen to astrological information. I look up and shake my head. Everyone is happy.
I guess to stay off topic, here is my setup. This picture pre-dates the acquisition of the long dew shield.
Oh yeah, I started the thread, so I guess it’s all on topic.
Well, we need to see where the thinga-majig goes on the whose-itz so you can see the stars. It is a complete cycle of manufacturing to appreciation.
I had a scoutmaster(first name Darwin this will matter later) that was big into astrology. He would always setup a sun dial at scout camp, and teach us all about the constellations etc. at night. At scout camp we always did a thing called the bear wallow where we would lie down in the cold creek a recite the scout oath or law. Well one time we had all finished and Darwin stands up out of the creek buck naked and one boys points at him and yells… “it’s darwanamies astronomy… the full moon rising from the water!!!”
I suppose he would be arrested for it today.
He was a professor in the engineering department when I was in school. I never had him for a class but he was a guest lecturer in my sophomore seminar class. He was speaking on ethics and asked if there were any Boy Scouts in the class. Most of the class raised their hand… he asked for a volunteer to stand and say the scout oath. I was hiding in the back not wanting him to notice me… but he did anyway… as he scanned the room his eyes Locked on me and he said “hmm… I know this guy and I think he owes me… Erik would you like to stand and recite the scout oath.” I said I’d love to Darwin but I’ll have to tell a story about it first. He said “we will Find someone else…. Now That’s ethics!!”
