For anyone interested. The engineering and “laser beam” mount are located here.

Okay, this is not a laser locator, but actually a reasonably powered laser that replaces the plasma torch?
I found this link to the actual laser
It says 12w, what can you cut with 12 watts? what else do you need to make it work? Control relay? Air nozzle? how does the langmuir deal with it. Do you just turn off Z control and set it manually? Can I etch with this? Cut plastic? I’m interested.
I have that laser and it will cut 4mm plastic. The controller is a Ruggeduino Uno with the io shield. I had it laying around and decided to put it to good use. Any controller with PWM can be used. I use Sheetcam and created a tool with 4mm pierce height. That is the focus length of the laser. You’ll have to turn off THC. Other than that it works like a plasma table.
Have you tried the sheetcam laser plug in ?
