Need help programming wind spinner

im trying to program a hummingbird wind spinner and cant seem to figure out how to get it to do the cuts for the thin lines that make the part for twist, any suggestions would be appriciated. i see all kinds of these being made but i cant figure out the programming.

What design program are you using?

What are you using for CAM? Fusion or Sheetcam?

If these are relief cuts for bending, they need to be a single line or a large enough loop to fit the kerf of the plasma cutting tool.

Fusion will not generate a toolpath on a loop that doesn’t have room for the kerf or lead in/out.

I did do a video and walk through of developing the cam for a spinner in Fusion. I’m just trying to find it.

My twitch stream video has long since expired I’ll see if I have it posted to YouTube or I have it in the archive and I can post it to you tube

You need to do a separate 2d profile that only does open chain cuts. Disable Lead ins, Lead outs, set the offset to zero. Select all of the “ring lines”.
Then you can do another 2d profile for the rest of the cuts using closed chain cuts.

this is for Fusion. I’m assuming you are using Fusion for this.

Here’s a link to the video about doing both open and closed geometry in one piece.

thank you for the video, i still cant figure out what im doing wrong it only makes a short cut line not the whole arc. ive tried double clicking but i dont get the same results as you, i am using fusion 360 but im still learning, any help is much appriciated

can you post the DXF or F3D file you are using ?

you may not be able to post a file yet but when see you post a few more responses that option will open up

i loaded the file that you put on here

I put together a quick video using that file showing a couple different options. See if that works for you.

here is a copy of the altered file from after the video

Thank You @TinWhisperer I have had problems with open lines in Fusion360 before, and have abandoned a couple of things because of it. Your video was the answer to the problems I was having!

Good Job, Thanks again for posting that video.
