MR-1 Spindle Upgrade - More Info!

Has anyone received their MR-1 yet? Mine isn’t due till 2nd or 3rd week in November. Although it seems a bit intimidating, I’m looking forward to putting it together.

Not yet estimated at end of month for first bunch.

Thought they were still estimating the revised shipping window. First batch Oct. 10-24. Spindles arriving by 3rd week. We are in the 3rd week. Did I miss additional info somewhere?

They told me that the upgraded spindles were to be arriving on the 17th. They said that they would be shipping by months end.
Thats all I know at this time.

Here is me having a good day on my mill with a MRR of .05" on A2 tool steel. This is as fast as I dared to push without breaking a third endmill.

I am wondering what kind of MRR I can get with an 1/8 endmill in tool steel on the MR-1. Very excited.

Hopefully we will find out in the near future.
I’m pacing the floor also.

Just a quick update- our spindle assembler is planning to ship out the units on Monday or Tuesday. Should take 5-7 days to reach us. I’ll chime back in if anything changes.

Thanks for the update. I’m tripping over 10 bags of concrete everyday. Just kidding

Any update if the spindles went out like expected? Really hoping I can get hands on my machine in the next two weeks… I’m starting to get a lot of jobs stacking up waiting for it haha

They said on the Facebook group that the spindle manufacturer was sending out the spindles yesterday or today. And it would take 5 to 7 days to reach them. Then they planned on a mass shipment thereafter

Keep your fingers crossed…

I’m not excited. I’m not excited. I’m not excited.

Hi All,

Spindles shipped out yesterday as expected! Should be here in about a week.

Bingo. The work envelope and price point beat anything out there.

Is it perfect? Nope. We would all love those $100k+ machine capabilities in a $10k package, but that’s not life. But it’s as close to perfect as a beginner/hobbyist like myself can actually swing for and land. Even a $35k Haas I can’t justify.

@langmuir-daniel Quick question, Is this pic of that thickness of a spindle shaft, the final design/the one i got?

i was debating on whether to tear down the spindle and see if i can modify it to a ER32 or a cat taper. but judging by that pic it looks possible unless the lighting and angle are playing tricks on my eyes.
