I moved the control box to the front left leg instead of mounting it at the rear left leg. I fabricated a bracket that would attach to the front leg and allow me to attach the control box to the bracket. Only sticks out about an 1 1/2 inches in the front and adds 3/16 additional stick out to the side. (due to the bracket being 3/16 plate steel). A measured drawing (DXF) will be available at the end of this post. LOL
As I’m assembling my mr1 I can’t help but wonder why they didn’t set this up to be mounted 8 different ways.
And now, about those wires being too short…lol
I did the same on Sunday, also move the monitor to the right side, the only cable that is short is the USB connection to the controller.I ordered a right angle connector on Amazon with a 10 foot cord. For now it’s twist tied across the front
From my experience if you have the enclosure the cords may be too short, but would probably be pretty easy to remedy.
I moved mine up the side of the enclosure and turned it, so I can reach the e-stop and the power switches from the front easily.
Adding a second e-stop to the front is on my project wishlist. I’ve seen the stop button in cut control take more time then I’m comfortable with to stop when jogging a fixed distance.
@tacomabuilt What coolant are you running? Lets just say that your enclosure windows don’t look like my enclosure windows.
that was taken before I had run any coolant yet, I’m using the Fusion cool that was recommended in the coolant thread. Windows don’t look too bad though still.
Hey @motoracer450 , Did you forget to put the DXF? shoot me a message or a email. I’d be willing to purchase the DXF you made. Michael@halespeed.com
I thought I posted it. Here it is .
Control box mount v2.dxf (456.5 KB)
I appreciate it very much! Anything i can do to helpyou?
This definitely does not work if you have the enclosure, cables are too short ![]()
I moved mine to the front left side and had no issues with the cables.
Hm. I have an assembled version so maybe that’s why. I would also not be surprised if they’ve changed their cable lengths since the early units and/or didn’t have very consistent lengths at the beginning.
