I thought I would save myself some problems with limit switches and just build my machine with the suggested metrol switches. Well that didn’t go as planned.
I installed my switched and installed the limit switch main cable. First question, when the switches are in normal state with no plungers being depressed, should the leds on the cables be lit? They are as I have it wired currently. If I switch the wires then they do nothing, well they don’t light up.
What drives this question you ask? I have an error on limit Y2/Z. LS was gracious enough to help me trouble shoot and decided it was the cable. They sent a new cable and same issue. Now it may be internal. Before I do that, I want to be sure I am wired right.
Maybe someone can tell me how to wire this “super complex” two wire setup? Thanks!
Those are the correct ones. Are you sure they actually sent you those? They should be closed without being pushed. I cut off the led section and shortened the leads to match the Langmuir harness. I wonder if the led is confusing Cutcontrol.
I posted this question on Facebook as well and that was one response I got was the leds on Z could be throwing a bad signal to the shared cable of Y2/Z. Makes total sense. Thanks!
Ok, as promised I would give you a status. West Travis suggestion worked. I cut out the LED from the z axis limit switch and the problem was solved. The LEDs on the y axis made it super simple to set up the home state. We are off and running. Thanks everyone who responded. Special thanks to West.
I am sure you are not. HA! I would invite him but he is selling his machine. I am not sure why. Maybe he will just want to stay a contributor to the forum. LS doesn’t need another naysayer. I think there are some week points but there are definitely more strong points. Isn’t that the point of this machine? Wow, I went down a rabbit hole there… HAHA!
He says right in his forsale post why he is selling it:
“I didn’t buy this too long ago, I wanted to learn on it, and while I did learn a tremendous amount, I think it’ll be cheaper and easier for me to send my drawing to a local machine shop. I’m more of a welder fabricator than a machinist. Plus it will free up a lot of space in my little garage.”
It looks like a good deal for someone in NJ ($7500 for a machine with enclosure, two vises, and plenty of other accessories).
