Magnetic Chuck for cleaning

Bought a 12x12-in magnetic Chuck last week. The thing is incredible but it weighs 100 lb.
Of course after seeing it and using it I could have got away with a 6 inch by 6 in. But for some reason I always go with the overkill. It’s so heavy I’m going to have to fabricate some kind of stand so that I can use it. Anybody interested in one of these things for cleanup they are truly awesome. You’re probably just don’t need a 12x12.

wow…$$$$$

I built a magnetic electric chuck that weighs about 8lbs…made out of electromagnetic door lock systems…switch on…switch off…portable and on needs a couple of clamps to hold it in place

Yeah $400. Tried the vise grip on to the table trick but this certainly solves the problem. I can use it on the milling machine too. At least I’m trying to legitimize this purchase. Ha Ha.

I will “borrow” the one on my surface grinder

Translation …

“seriously dear, I can use it for many machines…it will save me time and money…in the end I wil be able to spend more time with you”…

Yeah that should work :slightly_smiling_face:

I use that for every new tool. I find a project she wants done and buy the tool(s) needed. That project usually pays for the tool vs. hiring someone to do it for me. Then I do at least one more project needing that tool so I’m in the “profit” territory

I do tend to pick projects off her list that require new tools vs the ones I already have the toys for

AHMEN BROTHER!!!..AHMEN…TO THAT!!!

my wife already thinks the new table is hers, and it isn’t even here yet

I built a magnetic grinding table for $40 using 9 1 1/8” neodymium magnets. Works awesome as my table measures 24”x24”, so it’ll hold anything I lay on it, simply wipes clean after.
