Looking to See an MR-1 in Action

Hi everyone,

I’m seriously considering purchasing an MR-1 for my company to use for prototyping work, but I want to make sure it will meet our expectations before moving forward. I’ve been an engineer for several years, and I have solid CAD skills with a fair amount of hands-on experience using HAAS mills. Our budget is tight, and I’ll need to lobby hard to get approval for the MR-1. That said, I want to be absolutely sure it performs as advertised, as I can’t afford to make a mistake with this purchase.

Everything I’ve seen online looks promising, but I’d really appreciate the chance to see the MR-1 in person. Is there anyone in the New York Metropolitan area—ideally on Long Island—who owns an MR-1 and would be willing to let me visit their shop to check it out? I’d be more than happy to bring coffee and doughnuts as a thank you!

I’d be incredibly grateful to anyone who can help me out. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best,
Kevin

I had a similar situation with my company, and chose to jump through all the hoops to get it approved after only seeing videos of it. It was definitely worth the hassle. I’m in CT so likely a bit far for you. I machine mostly 6061 and hardened 4140 on it, as long as your feeds and speeds are correct, it performs well. I wouldn’t recommend for any production work I don’t think, but it’s great for one-offs or brackets, and many other things. I’d be more than willing to send you a video of the next part I make on it later next week if you’d like.
