Look over all parts carefully. For new owners ready to assemble their PRO table

Hey guys, first post, and this is intended for someone that has just received their PRO table and getting ready to assemble. Make sure you give a very detailed look over all the parts you receive, including the electronics. When I got to assembling my table one of the first things I noticed was one of the bearings that the carriage moves on had a defect, almost like it had a issue during manufacturing. The outer bearing race had a large grinder mark that created a flat spot on the bearing. Not much good when it is designed to roll along the carriage arm. Next problem I noticed was with the electronics enclosure, and more specifically one of the stepper motor driver modules. I noticed something rattling around inside, and proceeded to take the enclosure apart. I found one of the screws that bolts the board down in side the driver module had fallen out and was floating around inside. Had I not caught this it most certainly would have shorted the electronics out in that module. Next was the screws supplied for the D-SUB connectors to replace the thumbscrews. No way are those screws long enough, and I cant understand how that could escape quality control, much less any of the other issues. The machine has worked ok to this point and I am happy with it, but those issues could be detrimental to anyone not fully paying attention. As far as the bearing issue, I have yet to mitigate that problem, but have adjusted that bearing block not as tight as I would like it to be so bearing is really not creating any support. I would like to see the quality control department (if they have one) step up their game a little. These machines are certainly not a small investment, so the level of quality control needs to be more profound.

welcome to the forum…
first I would like to say that if you had a problem with damaged parts like your bearings you should have taken pictures and sent them to Langmuir on their support email…

I am sorry you have had a few issues…but to come here and complain and warn others for your first post is not the best way to start.

Everyone will tell you that Langmuir for the most part has outstanding service for replacement parts that are wrong from the factory…I know as I had a damaged water table…and I had a corrupted main board at one time.
I live in Canada on the East coast…and they shipped me replacement parts in days.

So reach out and inform Langmuir of the issues…they are more than happy to help when they have been properly informed of any issues.

As for the electronics enclosure…you are told in the instructions to open and check the enclosure to ensure the chips are seated tight…things do get loose from shipping from time to time.

As for the screws they have been made aware of this and were shipping out replacement parts to those who asked for them…it was unclear who got the wrong screws…

About quality control stepping it up…they do a great job as far as I am concerned and I expect many others are the same.
Langmuir has grown exponentially in the last few years and have done a pretty good job staying on top of issues and quality.

I understand what your saying, but to put it simply, I will complain however I see fit considering I invested almost 4k in this system and will warn others to be more prudent in their examination of their parts. I am very particular, and the issues that I found simply couldn’t have just ‘got through someone’s hands’. Somebody is sitting there assembling those bearing Blocks and I can’t for the life of me see how it could get by. The screws for the d sub connectors I could understand if there are multiple suppliers for the servos with attached cables. Regardless, I get what your saying, but ill go my own route how I see fit.

Welcome to the forum.

I understand your frustration, especially after waiting 7 weeks for it to ship it can be frustrating having to wait for replacement parts.

I second what toolboy said about Langmuir’s responsiveness. I had an issue with a defective part. My table was functional with the defective part so I just assembled it and notified Langmuir . They had me a new part on the way in a couple of days.

Fortunately it was a part that is relatively easy to replace.

For what it’s worth I think one of the first line items in the directions is to carefully inspect each component and notify support if you have any missing or defective components.

Which squares nicely with your OP.

Enjoy your table, it has been fun for me learning something new.

those replacement screws for the d-subs definitely fit and work, you need to just start a bit of thread on each one, not tighten one side then try to tighten the other.
