Limit switch upgrade? worth it?

I searched and didnt come up with many recent posts. All were earlier ones with some issues. I have a PRO that I will be buying and considering if i should get the Limit Switch option.

Did it improve any?

Welcome to the forum!

I was very new to this CNC plasma cutting when the L/Switches came out. I bought a set thinking I’d get around to installing them. Then, I saw others who were ahead of me skill wise having difficulties with them. I’ve cut hundreds of small to medium signs and other things and never needed them.

Your needs and experience may differ. My vote is get your table setup and do some cutting and see if you find a need. You can always add them later.

Paging @Bigdaddy2166 … you are needed on the limit switch isle STAT. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::joy:

@infinkc welcome to the Forum

The basic improvement to the limit switches is they went from limit switches that weren’t gasketed to limit switches that were.

If you do a lot of index cutting or would like to have a homing button to get the torch out of the way at the end of the cut those are probably the two best reasons to have it.

I did end up buying a limit switch kit for my pro but never used it before I bought an XR.

I do use the homing function on the XR quite a bit. My need for indexing isn’t as much now with the larger cutting surface though.

@infinkc welcome to the forum.

I ordered the limit switch kit when they first came out but have yet to install them. There are allot of threads and opinions here on the forum about the usefulness of the limit switches offered by Langmuir. I will say in defense of the limit switches, by now, there are probably several hundred of them being used by folks who have never had any issues with them, who are finding them very useful … but you probably won’t read about them here. Don’t let the negativity dissuade you from buying them if you would like to give it a shot.

Happy cutting.

I’m one of those. Been using them since day one. But now that i’ve mentioned it, Murphy is going to rear his ugly little goblin nosed head.

Whatever you have against his nose isn’t my business… :wink:

I like my limit switches just to get the gantry out of the way with one button.
