Contemplating a trip to visit one of my sisters if the weather cooperates. She has a house on Hood Canal. Somewhere over by you, I have yet to see it so wanting to get over there sometime. Have a daughter that has houses on Mercer and Whidbey. We do get over to see her occasionally
We went to Poulsbo/Silverdale area today. Roads were good. Your problem would be the passes. I havenât kept up on them.
I told my wife that you were getting the same printer on the same day and we are only an âinchâ away from each other (based on some maps). I said we could have pooled or resources and shared a printer!
We used to stomp around Whidbey Island back when we lived in Sedro Wooley (near Mount Vernon). That was in the early 80âs.
We could have parked the shared printer in ellensburg. Would have sucked to do maintenance in the middle of the night though. Flip a coin for who makes the drive? ![]()
I think Iâm closer to Tin than you but still not far. Speaking ofâŚwhereâs he been ?
Last I heard, and he shared on this forum, he plans to drop by every so often but he has plans for this year and he needs to allocate his time to those efforts.
I talked with Tin yesterday, he is still alive! very different not having him around.
@holla2040 your tip worked great this morning with using PLA for the raft interface when printing with PETG. I made this one just to see if it fits before making a set of them. I did add Jeep in Bambu.
Nice job. Well done.
Sorry I canât show my 3D âprintedâ projects yet but can you tell I am anticipating it?
Been playing in Fusion 360 and plan to make this. It will cost me $0.34. Now, nowâŚdonât start adding all the costs in for getting the printer, filament, new table/bench and $1000 worth of various âneed to buyâ things. ![]()
NOOO! I am not going to admit that I am Lactose intolerant. Just printing an easy-carry bottle in case I come across someone that would like one⌠![]()
This will be about 0.8 inches in diameter and about 2.5 inches long. Perfect for a pocket.
@OldNBroken, how is your delivery progress. Mine just got delayed:

Nice projectâŚthreads can be tricky. Let me know if you have any issues once you start printing.
I would imagine!
@ChelanJim - You are going to have to rethink your letters on the side. Printing in air wonât go well. Try maybe a different color (presuming you got the AMS) and add the lettering in with the slicer.
If it starts at the beginning, skip ahead to 30 seconds, the intro is annoying as all get out.
@Cletus
I moved this discussion to better suited topic in forum.
Not sure what you plan on making with your new machine but as fellow bed slinger owner I bumped my bed temp from 70 to 75 deg when printing PETG. I use the factory PEI textured plate. Itâll be cool to see what you can do using using metal and plastic together.
Great! âŚJust downloaded and installed Orca, looks very cool. Configured it for my old Ender 3 pro and for the new KE. Will try it on the pro later today. The KE was shipped from Creality yesterday (paid $273 with free FedEx shipping to my Miami based Freight Forwarder). I usually make little enclosures and mechanical bits and pieces and model pre machining parts on the printer. Couple years ago I purchased a Creality resin printer, used it once to print the Eiffel Tower test piece and never again, what a frigging mess and fuss it is, never again!
Really appreciate the tips and you pointing me in this direction. Will certainly keep in touch and let you know how it goes. Should have the KE in my hands in about two weeks. Thanks again! ![]()
Very excited to try PETG, never did. Reading up on process, quirks and workflow adjustments. Just ordered my first roll of PETG.
When I slice with auto tree support with âonly critical areasâ, it is not showing that I need support. Is that not accurate?
This situation would be horrible!!!
TPU is cool stuff to play with also. I have big plans to use the TPU for custom anchor designs. Sandwiching between 2 metal plasma cut pieces. The blue would be TPU
Sticks, I came up with an alternative. Actually a friend mentioned this as an option/possibility:
But I might scrap the whole idea of letters on the outside. The bottle can easily have a label pasted on it.
It is similar to the problem with garden stake labels: Sure you can pre-print what the plant is but how often do you have a stake that says exactly what you want it to say?!. Labels or markes have their place!
But I do appreciate you bringing this up: It probably would have been a distraction from my success with the threads. Which is really what I am trying to see what happens there: Any predictions???
