One YouTube influencer stated this textured plate is a must have:
I believe Craig (@holla2040 ) said a similar thing. I guess getting the first layer to stick is one of the most crucial first steps to a successful print.

The PEI is a must, no fuss. I was sold from the first print and will never go back. Order some matte PLA to see the surface quality difference. I prefer matte. If you’re going to print TPU or other without using the AMS, get a little piece of PTFE tubing for spool holder.

The PEO and PET plates (aftermarket) are good to.
I came across a website selling a likeness of a beloved character that we have all come to know and respect. Little did I know he had started his own line of merchandise just in time for Christmas.
It was not a coincidence that Tin got a 3D Printer (i.e. “Money making machine”)
And we all fell for it!
Edit: Just joking!!! But one could do this…until the copyright lawyers caught up to you.
Well the last set worked out so well I printed a second set. This time I use the same PLA for the majority of the support except for the interface between the support and the part.
I’m out of the house in the next few hours taking my son to a birthday party. This print just finished. I have to train my wife to change the build plate. Have to come up with it clever approach too convincing her.
There is NO manual for that!!! Good luck and bring back some suggestions for us to try.
…And, tell us the ones you found out did not work. It is all valuable information.
@72Pony there is the angle for you: Fun for the whole family!
So how long are you going to keep us in suspense? I have very little patience at Christmas time…already bought and opened my presents
Edit: New guess: pieces for a ski or snowboard rack to buffer from the metal structure??
That support structure is fascinating. I assume that it does not actually attach to the piece. Is it a different material so it does not stick?
I guess there may only be two people on this topic that don’t have 3D printers! All the rest of you, already know the answer. Edit: 3 people!
No, no 3D printer… yet! (But this topic has really piqued my interest!)
Everything worked out with the print and everything worked out with the cutting and fabrication.
I designed this board holder to be mounted on a wall.
@ChelanJim basically hit the nail on the head
I’ve been itching to post but I had birthday parties to go to and Christmas parades and all kinds of other fun stuff out in the real world.
The 3D prints are for capping the edge of this stainless steel hanger, keeping the edge from marring the boards. Inside these yellow caps contain three compliant mechanisms which each have a dome that snaps into the holes on the stainless steel, locking the part in place. I have a few cross-section views on my computer, I’ll post tomorrow, here’s a photo dump from my cell phone. I’m very happy the way all this turned out. My mind is just spinning with things I want to do.
I am guessing that is what the first ADAM print was. Your arms would have had to have been way thicker all the way around like the front (about 50% of the front, and maybe a large fillet to make it wider to support the weight and use.
Make it a 3 piece (back and 2 arms) Print the arms vertical, and the back on its back.
That being said - awesome job blending the two products together! TPU would be another good choice for the buffers
I made these overnight. I’m going to have a really happy little girl this morning…
@ChelanJim add new dremel tool to the list of things you want for 3d printing. Really nice to clean up all the supports after you break them off.
My buddy asked me if I could make him a custom guitar truss cover. So he sent me the measurements. Took 20mins to print it. $50 is what they wanted to charge him.
Possibility are endless…
Careful, you’ll start neglecting your plasma table…
I have one going right now that will change it all my metal designing. I’m limited on size but I was making big multiple layer signs.
I’m neglecting my stihl carving chainsaw. This is the time of the year I like to be out making saw dust.
Two metal with plastic projects done this weekend. Really makes things a lot easier and keeps this stuff super clean.
