Version 2 of the spear knife.
The 3d printed one worked very well. The threads were excellent.
The handle still needs work. more revisions to come with this one

Spear knife is brilliant. Now add an insert so when it’s not a spear there’s no void.
Like the “Rambo” survival knife with hollow handle.
I LIKE this one!
The Spear knife has a place but sort of like the ShopSmith, it tries to be all things to all tasks and then does not excel at any of them. But, like BrownFox mentioned, having some way to fill the void when being used as a knife would change my perception.
Disclaimer: No disrespect meant to anyone who likes the ShopSmith. I will admit I have never used one. I just know that I use my table saw more than any tool when wood working. If I had to reconfigure to/from the table saw every time I did some other function I would end up buying just a table saw in addition.
Nice letter opener.
Does look nice actually, but I’m not sure if it’s very practical.
Really depends on which end you are on
I’m starting to think you stab more “bears” than I do.
I designed one a couple years back but never followed through with it. I like more organic knife designs and was struggling to draw what was in my head so I made it from modeling clay. Then I took a side picture and a top picture and brought them in as canvases in f360 on the appropriate planes. I traced the side first to give me the blade shape. Then traced the top and used that to give me the profile of the grip. Then i fine tuned the mesh a little bit. I even designed a jig for my buddy to cut the grips on his router table. I cut some blanks out of steel and made a jig for the belt sander for the bevel. I was going to have it laser cut from some better steel but never followed through. Was a pretty easy work flow i thought.
I like it @MMFab .
How do you grind the angles on the blade ?
Can you share the fusion file?
I can print one and see how it feels in my hand.
Tin,
Now you need to figure out how to Hard mill the bevels on the MR1 and you could start a new product line!
Love several of the designs you have!
If you chop on too flat of a surface, that chopper may mash your pinkie. Good looking though.
Both very good looking.
Good looking knifes, looks like you are keeping your 3D printer busy.
