It's been awhile. Post those projects!

Thank you. Is maple live edge had In my barn for about 3 years. Finished with coconut oil and super mirror black powder.

That’s the color of the paint used on the mountains? What kind of maple? It’s more red than I would expect. It’s a lovely combination, that’s for sure!

Yes from Columbia coatings. It is what we call around here a red maple. I think the coconut oil kinda makes the colors change s bit. I will definitely be going through my barn looking for more.

A couple of the latest ones… Tree of Life is a donation for a silent auction… Been hard to get much out this year working out of town all the time…!! I miss my evenings in the “shop”…

Nice coloring on the antler! What did you use?

Thanks Tom!! The antler is an “off white” - antique white" follows with a tan-brown dry brushing… just playing around with that and it worked! Who knew?!?

hey toolboy,

been messing with the copper ii sulfate, is there a way to get it to really stick to the metal? im fully cleaning my metal, then i apply it and i get a cool patina effect but if i spray it with a hose or wipe with any real effort i can get most of it to come right off. am i doing something wrong or am i missing a step? i wanted to try putting a clearcoat on it but with it coming off so easily im worried the clear will fall off too

let it dry completely…then clear coat it…that is all that I do…
It is not like a deep etch or a true rusting effect…it is just a surface finish.

Well done restoration!

Great summary

Yes i’m allowed back in the house. There was a storm and the power line to the house was severed. I plugged in a few lights via an exension cord into the on-board inverter. When the power company truck arrived that night to reconnect, the boss lady asked me to use the flood lights to help illuminate the work area. She’s impressed!!! :beers:
