Is it worth the wait?

Ok, I have my paid order in for a Hypertherm 45xp, CPC with machine torch and separate hand torch with the consumable kits for both torches, cover, air filter, bla bla bla…
My question is do I wait it out 20+ weeks for its arrival or buy a basic Razorcut 45 for 899.00. My local farm store has 2 on the shelf as well as multiple boxes of consumables. I could be cutting tomorrow if I went this route. I originally went with the 45xp based on user stated quality of machine and general user reviews but now I’m questioning if there is really that much of a difference. Price point of 3200 vs 900, no brainer. But if Its going to be a colossal PITA then I may be better off waiting. I am ok buying the pricier equipment if its really worth it. Just anxious to get cutting. I would like to hear from some actual users of the razor cut and their problems and if they recommend waiting. Sorry but his dead horse needs one more beating.

Not sure about the razor weld. But I got the 45xp. You may want to check out weldersupply.com to see if they have any in stock if you want the 45xp. I got mine there., Quick shipment. My local supply store was quoting me 12 weeks

I would buy the RW and be cutting now. In 20+ weeks I’d take delivery of the Hypertherm and either keep the RW for hand cutting or put it on Craigslist and sell it for a few hundred off.

I’d be cutting and learning and making stuff now rather than waiting the rest of the year to be able to do something. The loss on the RW would be more than made up for with what I could do over the next few months instead of just waiting. And if 20+ turned into more + then I’d be even happier I hadn’t waited.

I ordered my Hypertherm in late February and just received it a couple weeks or so ago. I must say the thing has a superb build quality and from what everybody else has told me, it’s worth the money if you have it to spare. If the cost causes you hardship then the Razorweld seems a reasonable compromise, but the wait is probably worth it if you can stand it. Also, my wait pretty much coincided with the wait for the Crossfire anyway, so I only had it assembled a couple weeks before the Hypertherm arrived… any earlier wouldn’t have helped any really
In my situation, I would have access, even if just occasionally, to a couple guys’ plasma cutters I could have borrowed to use on the Crossfire if I was so inclined. Do you have any such options?

Vinito I don’t know anyone who has a plasma. No worries though, just gives me time to work on the software side of it. My machine is ordered and paid for through welderssupply.com. Good things come to those that wait. I sent an email requesting status. I was told they have 18 units on order that were supposed to arrive 4 weeks ago. I gave my order number and asked if I will make it into that batch and he said I am number 3 of the next 18. I have a lot of parts designs to work on and I can run sharpie samples prior to the cutters arrival. Then the happiness will ensue. Vinito your in KC right? I’ve been following your threads, shop looks good!

Well thanks about the kudos on my shop!
I bought my Hypertherm from the same place. I also placed a couple calls about status and Hypertherm evidently is the weak link on shipping estimate communication as Welders Supply was in the dark as much as the customers were.
In the end, my unit arrived about a little over a week beyond the long-end estimate so it wasn’t way far off.
And I can only add that I’m satisfied enough with the plasma to say that in my case, it was indeed worth the wait.
