I am new to the whole CAD and G code world and i don't know what I'm doing

Basically I am a senior in high school, and I bought a XR a few months ago and I installed fusion and can have asses to Auto cad if needed. I have 0 clue on how any of the G code works and how creating something of your own with g code works or how to transform a DXF into a G code or tap file.

My main question is: is there a easier/faster way to make g code, and how should I be doing it.

I also am not sure how the post processor things work either.

Thank you for any help you can give. It is greatly appreciated.

@CB-Fabrication welcome to the forum

Learning the steps involved and getting experience doing them. I can make G code in a very short period of time nowadays.

The post processor takes the G code and configures it for whatever given machine you’re working with.

Check out the video posted in this link it gives a quick run through of making something and then making G code from it

Welcome to the forum. That video that Tin pointed you to is excellent as it gives you an overview. If you still have questions, don’t hesitate to ask and someone will help clarify.

Here is my view of how the pieces all come together. (Notice that we are directing you to other links as the forum encourages that vs. pasting the same thing to multiple threads.)

Welcome CB

This Forum has a wealth of information on it. Just do a search of anything you want to know about and most likely something will come up. Youtube also has a lot of videos on Fusion 360.

Good luck, you are in the right place for information.

where do you find the video you guys are talking about???

Right below where they say to check out the video, there is a link to another thread(in the gray box) that contains that video. Click on the thread title in that box and look through the thread for the video.
