Hypertherm 45xp without cnc plug

I have a Hypertherm 45xp and I’m new to the cnc plasma table world and I was looking into getting the cnc port upgrade kit for my plasma cutter is that all I would need to be able to run the plasma on the table?

Welcome to The forum you’ll also need a pigtail to come from that CPC port to the machine.

What Tin said.

Just make sure during/after your install, you confirm you didn’t accidentally bump the dip switches.

By default, it’s set for 50:1 but just make sure it’s still on that setting before buttoning it up.

Edit: Speaking of I think I have that Hypertherm cable sitting in my box of parts

Anyone know if the SYNC sold by Langmuir comes with the port installed?

Hypertherm bundles the systems for authorized retailers like Langmuir to sell

With that said, Hypertherm machines with an included mechanized torch all have a CPC port from the factory

The machines with hand torches don’t have them pre-installed; easy to install anyway

Will I still be able to use my normal hand torch still?

Thank you for responding with this rather important CPC port detail. This makes more sense. I just ordered a 45 SYNC with the machine torch from Langmuir and the pigtail cable to connect to the Crossfire controller box and VIM. I downloaded the cutter’s documentation from Hypertherm and didn’t see the CPC port as a highlighted feature of the machine. The pigtal (only) arrived days ago, with no documentation (classic) or lead labelling, waiting on the cutter. From what I read on the pig tail the longer leads are for the arc trigger and the short lead is for the voltage divider.

Deleted, re-read original post.

Correct, because it is assumed that the VIM will be attached to the plasma cutter itself hence you’ll only need a short cable.

And yes there is documentation; it’s all online just like assembly of the table is.

They even have a picture of said pigtail.

If you only have a hand torch take a read on this topic.

I’m not sure if anyone’s found a work around yet.

Plenty of threads in this very forum on connecting the hand torch to run as a machine torch.

Author would have to zip tie the torch trigger - personally I recommend just getting a machine torch.

They go on sale from time to time on Baker’s Gas for the ~$700 range.

Have you seen this done with the SYNC hand torches?

The OP is running a 45XP, not a Sync.

Second poster with this SYNC threw me off. I conflated the two

Yeah that one came out of left field

My terrible memory says that someone tried but couldn’t make it work with the Sync hand torch? I can’t recall. Fortunately that second posted for the machine torch so they are good to go.

Yes you can use the normal hand torch if you’re running the PowerMax 45 XP. Disregard my earlier comment I got you confused with the other member using sync equipment.
