Helical rack upgrade

Looking to build a new table but utilize my crossfire pro for the drive of it. The new table however is going to be driven with a helical rack instead of the screw style threaded rod on the table currently. Would anyone have the faintest idea on how I could recalibrate the stepper motors. Reason being I highly doubt the rack will be equal to the threaded rod for steps to distance travelled. Any info would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

Firecontrol is grbl based. You can change the calibration by modifying the grbl controller. There is a thread here about adding a rotary axis that had the instruction on how to do it.

Awesome thanks so much. That was my one issue I needed to figure out

This thread gets pretty involved with such a discussion:

I’ve been looking at this for awhile also, although not rack and pinion. There isn’t much langmuir left on my table. Honestly I think the best route is to ditch the entire langmuir controller and switch to myplasm. Fire control really locks you in and kills a lot of options for additional features.
