So here is an interesting one for your guys. Today while trying to draw up some custom gussets in fusion(the free version) I completed my drawing, extrude and move into the manufacturing workspace. From ther typically go straight to the setup tab and select the crossfire pro for the machine click OK and move on to the 2d profile button and go through the motions and come up with a toolpath and post no problems. Not today though. I couldn’t get a single tool in my library to be accepted or load and could generate a toolpath because of this. Lots of trial and error, mostly error. New tools, new tool library still no dice, lots of frustration. I wind up just for $#!+$ and grins to go back to the drawing, extrude, move to manufacturing workspace and go straight to 2d profile button and what do you know it instantly accepts what tool from any library and makes a cut path. I was even post it to firecontrol. Never had this happen before is this something new with fusion? I don’t understand why this would work, It used to not work to go about things in that order because you wouldn’t have selected a machine and would get a warning and have to complete your setup and select a machine. Anyone with any insight into this?
I’m a bit confused, what machine do you mean?
I’ve been using Fusion on 3 different tables (2 of them were Langmuir) and have never selected anything machine-wise.
And if it’s a flat item, I never extrude although some people like to do so just because. But I do have a Tool library for various machines and consumable types. But never once select a machine for anything. What’s the purpose?
Machine selection was just part of the langmuir instructions for using fusion in their instructional videos. I have always gone through from drawing to posts the same way since I started running the table a few years back. Oddly enough I used it again for some other simple brackets and worked normally, and what I mean is drawing to manufacture workspace, select setup tab, select crossfire pro(it’s just a genarice machine it just has a name) anyway once the setup tab is satisfied and I click OK I go to the 2d profile then select my tool from my library basically just the feed and cut data, height, kerf, peirce delay etc. Library has always worked for loading a tool. Now when I want to use it, it only loads my tool if I avoid the setup tab altogether by doing no setup just the 2d profile. Anyways no setup and go directly to 2d profile and go through the motions it will use a tool from the library no problem, if I use the setup button and go through that process when I get to the 2d profile and get to where I would select a tool it won’t load that in and I get an error message the says “failed to load tool” its odd to me but I guess I just have to remember something changed with fusion and I have to do things a little different now, it’s just frustrating when you forget that change and encounter that error.
The machine is not really needed. All you need is the cutting tool in the drop-down when you’re creating your cut file infusion.
