Drew Woolsey in particular seems to be using Fireshare as a method of transferring files to his table. I don’t know if he thinks that’s how it works or he is using it to avoid using something like one drive or a USB stick.
I have commented on his uploads a few times to tell him to find another way to transfer his files, but he either doesn’t see it or doesn’t care.
I’m just guessing, because he might just think that’s the workflow, but he makes the cut file on a computer in his house/office and uploads it to Fireshare. Then goes to the shop and downloads it from Fireshare onto his table computer to cut the parts.
I just on Fireshare today, first time in a couple of weeks. I was thinking WTH are all these brackets and flat panels? All from the same guy. And then I come on here and you guys are talking about the same thing. Kind of like Google listing to my thoughts….
Maybe the powers to be can make a folder for Drew before he ruins the whole Fireshare thing.
Fireshare needs to be moderated and files that don’t have a good description get deleted. All of his personal projects should be removed too.
On another note, I upload my files from the office to a File Share USB connected to my router. That let’s me access everything in the shop without having to carry a USB back and forth.
Works great if your computers are on the same network and it isolates the computers from each other so you can choose exactly what files each computer can see versus having everything open.
I’m not sure the “Drew Woolsey is an ass” file was necessary. Perhaps a less offensive way to notify him that he is cluttering up Fireshare would have worked better. Maybe something like a text file with “Drew Woolsey stop using Fireshare for your personal projects” would get the message across in a place where he can see it.
That is very unfortunate that someone feels a need to poke fun at others. This was meant to be degrading to someone. If the point was to explain to the user that their content was not what most people expected in FireShare, this thread was already doing it.
