Firecontrol not launching- SOLVED

Got everything plugged in and ready to jog the table for the first time. But I cannot get Firecontrol to launch on my new Dell Intell i5 laptop. I uninstalled and re-installed several times. Nothing. Icon shows on the desktop, but doesn’t start the program.

Got home and downloaded Firecontrol on wife’s Dell laptop and it start’s right up!

Really need Firecontrol to run on MY laptop. Any ideas??

I know on mine it can take several minutes of waiting to have it open. Maybe see if it just boots up slowly

See this thread for a possible solution, but if it has never started this might not help:

OK… I tried to delete this folder, but was prevented from doing so. Message appeared saying that the folder was in use. I even ran the “Task Manager” to see what was running and Firecontol is not on the list of running apps.
I uninstalled Firecontrol once again, deleted the “.firecontrol” folder, installed Firecontrol once again. Still will not start.

Getting frustrated…

I am being prevented from deleting the folder because it is being used by Firecontrol, yet Firecontrol is not even running, (according to Task Manager). I CAN delete this folder after Firecontol is uninstalled.

Do you see any Java programs running in your task Manager? If so try closing these first. Also, if you still can’t delete the folder try restarting your computer and trying again before opening FireControl.

I can delete the folder after restarting laptop. However, Firecontrol still not starting. Not even when trying to start as Admin. Folder re-appears and, again, cannot be deleted. Only app that shows in Task Manager is “Google Chrome”.

Firecontrol shows as running in Task Manager “More Details”, but not on “fewer details”. It appears to be running in “Background Processes”.

What happens when you highlight it and click End Task? Are you able to delete the .FireControl folder then?

Looks like the process is running and thus not letting you delete its file. Definitely try to end task and delete the folder, then try re-opening. If that doesn’t work and you can access the files inside the .FireControl folder please email them to support@langmuirsystems.com

Doubtful the issue is related to your openGL drivers as its a new laptop so its likely not- but try making sure your drivers are up to date.

Yes. I can End Task then delete the folder. Done so several times. I’ll check the openGL driver.

If you can access the .FireControl folder, can you send the firecontrol.log file to our support email?

Are you connected to the internet? Do you have any network management/security applications running?

E-mail sent.

I have TrendMicro running, but I tried with it turned off as well.

Intell i5-8265U processor.

Were you able to get it straightened out?

not yet. However, wife’s three year old Dell Inspiron i3 has no issues with Firecontrol.

New Firecontrol release seems to be working!!

Awesome Jim! Glad to hear it!

This issue just started for me tonight, did all of the above and am running 20.3.

I have found that firecontrol doesn’t like to launch for me unless laptop has an internet connection. If by chance anyone has a similar issue, as soon as I used my phone as a hotspot I was able to launch firecontrol.

I have internet, and it opens on my other two computers. A couple things were brought up on the Facebook groups that I’m going to try tonight. I probably still have corrupt files and need to get rid of them all. I’ll post if it all works out and what I did to fix it.
