This is hitting the space bar mid cut
The clamp is on a very cleaned off surface. Even cleaned up the copper jaws just for good measure. Nothing solid yet.
I believe you have your drag shield on. This will throw off the cut height considerable.
And, was a cut program in process when you hit the space bar? That is how you need to test. A tape measure will not measure 0.06 inches. You are showing more than 0.25 inches right there.
You will need something like this to measure the cut height:

I have valve shims. Yes I have the drag shield on, I’m a rookie!
No shame though thank you for your help. I will pull the shield and re-calibrate THC
Exactly. We are all just here to help each other.
I think so but I have only messed with the sample size.
Did you remove the drag shield?
You will never get it to work right till you take the hand cutting standoff off the torch.
dude…I have a 62i…so lets get this right,…
get rid of the little leg stand ooff unit …that little ring with legs is only used for free-hand cutting…remove it from the torch when doing CNC.
next…
the software of both firecontrol and any other software has no control over what the plasma does other than turn the torch on or off…
next…
the Everlast machines are known to have poor divided voltage or raw voltage readings off the cnc port on the back of the machine. do the right thing and get the raw voltage from inside the machine at the front. you connect right to the lugs before they leave the machine…there are pictures here if you search Everlast 62i here on the forum.
next…
using a tape measure to measure anything plasma is like using a tape meaure to measure the distance from one side of the state to the other…not accurate…
get a set of feeler gauges to do any measurements…but once you remove the legs you will be beter off.
next…
make sure you learn which tip sizes are used for different thickness of metals…do not use 0.8 tip to cut 45 amp 11gauge metal…you will blow it out…
next…
Everlasts are very sensitive to moisture in the air…do not get water confused with moisture…so make sure you have the poper sized compressor and moisture removal system in place.
I pulled the guard off of the torch and did the THC testing process for good measure. Everything cut perfectly….immediately. Thank you guys.
It really is amazing how it was something so simple. But this is something I’ve never been around. And I don’t feel that bad because I’ve had guys over that have been using plasma cam setups for years and no one else caught it.
I didn’t get to reply last night because I was doing celebratory cutting. Even drug my girlfriend out of the office to show her how nicely it was performing.
Thank you guys so much. I was getting ready to buy another machine.
Any recommendations on a website to buy spare consumables? I don’t even know what I need to buy!
I’m doing mostly 1/8” and up cutting.
The guy that responded to your post cant help you mechanic416 He can get you all your consumables
Were all of your problems caused by the drag shield? Would you consider this solved?
Machine is cutting great. Thank you guys for your help.
if you ever need help on an everlast drop me a note…been cutting with mine for 3 years…
Glasd to hear you are “up” and “flying”
