Fabrication Memes

I haven’t tried since that ‘performance’. To be honest, doing it again would diminish my experience being on the show. I don’t remember if I said this during the video but I don’t watch the replay either. I did originally but was starting to forget details. So I stopped, my perspective is completely different than what’s recorded. All is well, I can’t tell young people now of my trick, they just don’t get the significance. There isn’t a single Letterman in this generation that has a daily presence that everyone watches. That’s the run back to memory lane for me today.

Now back to the memes!

good to hear!

Honeymoon will be over quick when you realize that 40% of that dished expensive grinding wheel never gets used.

The main reason I switched to the CombiClick. Now I can use the WHOLE wheel.

I understand. I can go through 6 or 7 regular 5-inch discs 36 grit on a project. 3M discs are 3 dollars each. So these things are going to be great. I also ordered the disc you suggested. I will let you know.

What ones are you using ? Are they like the combi click, a quick change?

I’ve used the same 61167 disc for months. As you grind it down, it continues to reveal new grinding surface. In fact, I don’t think I’ve even replaced my first one.

That’s because I’m an excellent welder and my beads are tight and small … not!

We all should have just bought a single disc from you!

Of course I will probably need more.

3M Cubitron II Abrasive Fibre Disc, 33413, 5 in x 7/8 in, 36+ Grit, 5 Pack, High Performance, Fast Cutting, Long Lasting Amazon.com
They work for me but don’t last long. I tried all the brands, and they are all the same.
These I tried today are not even on the same page.
Stainless is a sanding disc killer.
That Amazon page is just a example of the same thing I use. I think I get 25 discs for 50 dollars or so.

Well, you must have gotten a really thick double dipped wheel, or you don’t grind as much as you think.

I went through 3 of those 10packs and got sick of the short life and paying $8 a wheel, and only using +/- $4 of it, the rest is on the inner curve and under my lock nut.

I switched to the Combi-Click and now I can use the whole wheel, but the life is still short. Now I only use for weld removal (hacking off a part, then grinding flat) or quick tailoring to get a part to fit. If I have to grind to make a smooth seamless appearance, I go back to Harbor Freight flap wheels, Dewalt, or what ever 36grit flap wheel I can find on sale.

Yes, new cutting material gets revealed, but nowhere near as effective as the virgin grit. Also very heat sensitive. If any your metal starts to color change (blue), you have already killed the adhesive on the wheel and chunks will start to flake off.

I do still buy them (combi-click) by the 25ct box. They have their place, but not a do-all wheel for media removal.

Talk about time on your hands. When they took off the mold, I had to sit back and say damn it, man.
