Everlast Power Plasma 82i (two month review)

I’m running a 50 amp breaker with 6 gauge wire

Same. Drop one of these into a double fixture box, run a 2+ground 6 guage wherever you want it.

Actually, I probably should have phrased the question differently. I had just finished wiring the garage with a subpanel and, among others, a NEMA 6-50 outlet and 6/3 wire running to it. I appreciate both of you confirming I hadn’t screwed that up

with the 1.2mm tip did you change your ipm or just your amperage. I am running pretty close to your same numbers and I was going to order more 1.3mm tips but I did not see any on everlast website… all I saw was 1.2mm

this is were I get my consumables for my 82i IPT80 / IPTM80 /PT80 plasma cut torch consumables / electrode / tips ( – PowerEdge Cutter

If you use the 1.3mm tip you’ll want to bump the power up to 75 to 80 amps so that you get a more parallel cut. If you go from a 1.2 to 1.3 and are still cutting the same thickness then you should increase your IPM by about 20% (current IPM X 1.2)

Maybe this will help you out.

1.0 = 50 amp, 1.1 = 60 amp, 1.2 = 70 amp and 1.3 = 80 amp

@Richarddbeck83 i know this is an old post…but i was just discussing this topic on another forum…i agree those tiny pins are a nightmare to solder…and to top it off i had the exact same experience with the polarity being wrong…i followed the pin out instructions from here on the forum i believe.i thought i misinterpreted them however after reading your experience just now i wonder if the schematic might be misleading also wonder how many people stopped and just went to raw voltage after either screwing up the pins or failing to realize the polarity was preventing things from working?

Hooked mine up to raw voltage from day 1.
Awesome plasma cutter. Hasn’t skipped a beat since.

FWIW - I just picked up a new 82i to use on thicker material than my PM45 can handle. Bend-Tech is getting rid of what they had in stock and selling them on eBay. They have the 62i and 82i models available as of today 11-5-24. I am still hooking mine up but they are brand new and I can at least vouch for getting what they stated in the eBay description. Mine was QA in 2021. Here is a link to the 82i (3 left). This is the machine torch model. $700 and taking offers.

torch included?

Would presume it comes with this basic package

  • PT-80 Hand Held Torch with 14 ft. cable and Euro quick-connect central connector
  • Ground Clamp with 25 Dinse connector
  • Air Pressure Regulator/Water Trap (separate air dryer is required to reduce consumable wear and prevent torch damage)
  • Consumable starter kit: 5x IPT-80 Electrodes and 5x IPT-80 1.2mm Nozzles/Tips\
  • WEiPU SP21 CNC Connector 12 Pin

I am waiting for a response. Like I need a 3rd plasma cutter.

Be careful; that deal sounds too good to be true… Something isn’t right. I don’t believe that dealer cost is that low. Hopefully, you will get a good machine—just my two cents, buddy.

The listing for the 62i s they are selling are clearly marked WITHOUT TORCH.

Without more information I would assume the 82i also includes NO TORCH

Good catch.

That is a $400 part for work clamp and torch easy.

ETA - Now hang on a minute…where did you get that photo ( I read to fast found it )? I went back to the link above and could find nothing about the torch being included or not. Nor is that photo part of the listing.

@TinWhisperer - I’ll confirm when I get an answer from the seller.

Their description talks about it being used with torch not that it includes a torch.

"

Item description from the seller

Easy starting with Blow Back Pilot arc allows easy cutting of rusty and painted metals.

Cuts virtually any type of metal with ease

Simple-to-use torches with inexpensive service parts and consumables

Commercial/Industrial class, 60% Duty cycle at 80 amps

Clean, smooth cuts and improved consumable life with the new Italian-designed iPT 80 torches

Blowback start starts arc without the need for High Frequency, which can interfere with surrounding electronics

Pilot arc improves performance and cutting on dirty, painted, or rusted metals

3 Second pilot arc tip saver feature shuts down the pilot arc after 3 seconds of continuous operation if no cutting is present to prevent premature consumable wear"

Now is the listing party purposefully being vague (a lie of omission) or negligent with the description ?

I figured that out after I re-read your post, and edited mine, like 3 times. Gotta stop with the knee jerk responses in the AM. My bad.

The add states NO returns. There most likely is NO repair warranty on them from Everlast. If it works and you get a few years out of it your ahead of the game. If it fails it will cost you maybe close to the $700 to get it repaired by Everlast.

It is good to be true. I’m not sure that whole initial post wasn’t a bot. The guy’s last post was Sept 23.

I am also waiting to hear about the torch, if it comes with a torch I will contact Everlast about a warranty
