I am having an issue with my Pro/Hyperthem XP45 not completing cuts (i.e., only cutting 3 of 4 lines on a square). The problem is intermittent and seems like there may be some correlation (not necessarily causation) with the plasma suddenly not going through the post-flow phase… Any thoughts?
@emery.thornton Welcome to the Forum.
If there are not warnings on the 45xp it maybe consumables or water vapor in the air stream.
Can you do a long continuous straight line cut using FireControl with out issues?
There were some warnings on the hypertherm, system error (lightning bolt) and air (arrow and tank). I upped the air pressure a bit as it wasdrooping a little low during the cut. Seems to have fixed the dropped cuts but im having some startup issues currently - “torch moves before…” Ive increased pierce delay to 130% but still have some intermittent issues (ground is fine). More of a nuisance at this point.
what is the pierce delay in the program to begin with ?
It is set at 0.6s in Fusion360 so my 30% increase puts me at 0.78 which in hindsight seems like an eternity.
check your consumables for wear,
how much cutting time on them?
have you cut successfully before ?
Slightly used consumables, I would take them out and make sure they’re clean which seems to help. I think I am going to build the copper air dryer as I am currently relying on the little Hypertherm air kit as my only source of drying. It works well for most of my projects but i am currently doing longer production cuts and I think that is causing a lot of water buildup.
