Cutting text problem (Solved)

Thanks for the tip. I didn’t realize you could extrude the unexploded font.

I was thinking of something like this to get the bridges in a fussy font. A bit tedious though.

Extrude join the font on the surface of a body, sketch bridges, extrude cut bridges (R) to surface of the body, then extrude cut the font through the body (first A)

When there is a WILL, there is a WAY! Good job!

Probably true with most programs but for every problem in Fusion 360, there usually a number of ways to solve it. That lends to be both “the beauty” of it and “the curse” for new learners.

If you do a lot of things with fonts, you might find this topic, from Craig, of interest:

As the name suggests, he shows you how to make your own personal font with bridges already in them. It was during this exploration that I happened on to this use of the NON-exploded font. I had worked for a number of hours (I was really slow…faster now) and when I exploded the text, Fusion 360 would have problems with it. I basically would have to re-work many letters. I had seen something on one of Tin’s videos that gave me the idea that if I could select something, like the unexploded text, I could use it. And it worked.

Craig later told me “I rarely explode my text.”

this is true. I normally just extrude the text object on the sketch.
