my question actually have 2. 1 i have a crossfire XR i design a project and seem to have to be fairly large or have troubles being able to cut it with things too close, but i design take it to sheet cam to generate a g code and it seems to generate fine thice image turns white then generates the cut lines if there are issues i try to fix them until gone then load it to a flash drive to go cut it when it starts cutting sometimes it stops and throws a code but u can hit ok generate and start and it will continue, a couple times like today it gets so far throws a code and gos back to a spot it already cut and wont continue tries to cut but keeps throwing the same code, and you advance the machine to the next cut point to finish the project? question 2 where can i order finer cutting tips for more prercise cuts i was told to getg 30A fine cut hypertherm 45XP nozzles and electrodes or is anyone else cutting art signs with the 45 tips with no issues if si what am i doing wrong ? seems i cant do anything very small even letters need to be at least 3"
can you advance the machine (miss spelling in there)
What, specifically, does the error code say? If it is saying that the touch moved before sensing voltage, I would say to increase the pierce delay to more than 0.65 seconds.
I have Hypertherm without the fine-cut consumables and frequently cut letter that are no more than 1 inch in size. The letters on the outside run off this plaque are about 1 inch.
If the torch is shutting off while cutting, it could be your air supply: turn up the air pressure. Hypertherm units regulate the air so give it up to 115 psi to the machine.
Is the plasma cutter throwing any error code? If not try increasing the sampling size of FireControl of voltage for the THC. This might help to flesh out what is going on with the plasma cutter if it is not throwing a code.
Bakers Gas & Welding has all sorts of Hypertherm consumables.
Do you use Hypertherm 45’s and the electrodes haven’t ordered any so don’t want to order and won’t fit my machine . Do you need to specify for a razor weld ? I was cutting out letters yesterday about 2, 21/2” hight air at 80psi feed rate 200 amps at 35 the inside of the letters were not even coming out the slag was holding them in. So I should slow it down but have been told to reduce the slag speed it up, then seems like my kerf is too large how often does a guy need to change the electrodes and tips? Cause that’s my issue when it’s cutting something smaller close to another cut it will stop cause it can’t read the arc.
Do you speed up and slow down your cuts in sheetcam for different areas don’t know how to do that either .
I wouldn’t recommend hypertherm consumables in the razor weld George on here @mechanic416 sell better consumable for your machine.
What material are you cutting? I ran the devil out of a rw45. I never cut anything that fast with it. If cutting 14 gauge start out about 100 ipm.
You could have moisture problems causing short consumable life.
What are you using then are you doing art and signs I need precise cuts even Langmuir said use Hypertherm fine cut tips ?
Ok saw you are using the rw45
If my cut tapers wider at the top narrower at the bottom, does that mean I need more air or more volts?
Was just practicing on 18 gauge
I have 3 valves I open prior to cutting and an air dryer installed
Jim do you run a razor weld 45?
The consumable may work. You are just having issues. I cut a lot of detail art work with standard consumable. Even with it fine consumable your kerf is about .040
As for taper your speed cut height and air quality could all be factors.
What kind of air fryer do you have?
I have a cut chart for the rw I will look at 18 GA for you.
I have upgraded to a ht 65 for duty cycle. The two are a decent machine though
I will be cutting 16 ga when I get my cuts cleaned up but my air dryer is a NANPU 3 stage
Cut chart doesn’t have 18. I would try 30 amps 35 maybe and 150 ipm. Picture will help to see what is going on. Work clamp on the material?
Work clap is attached to the table not actual piece being cut I’ll try to figure out how to get a picture on here
No. I have Hypertherm. I misunderstood and thought you also had Hypertherm. Agree with @Phillipw. Talk to @mechanic416 about tips and electrodes for your set-up.
You can see what the cuts are doing
Always put your work clamp on the metal being cut for the best results. The work clamp that is positive (not a ground) needs to be on clean metal to complete the circuit as the torch is negative.
