Cutter comp in cut control

How is everyone handling cutter comp for diameter offsets, or am I just missing something in cutcontrol?

its not there. i have to mess with it in the cam software.

There are no G41,42 codes native in Cut Control, and Cut Control wouldn’t recognize them anyway. Usually the CAM software handles that. What software are you using?

Currently using GibbsCam, been programming with that for 25 years and reluctant to switch up now.

You should be able to set that in “Preferences; Machining Preferences”

I can, i was mainly asking how an adjustment would be made. Looks like run a part, check it, re program and output new gcode. Was kind of hoping someone had a more efficient route.

I had the same feeling.
So far my machine has done very well at hitting the programmed size on interpolations, both ID and OD. The place I wish we had cutter comp the most is on thread milling. Once you get a thread size proven out it will repeat very well, but working it to size can be a pain.

I can see where thread milling would be a challenge for toleranced threads. My first programs have been within tolerance on profile dimensions, I haven’t bored any tight diameters yet to see how it plays out. Seems to me the machine is a decent build, but could use some help in the cutcontrol section.

I agree there. They are limited by the GRBL base to their system in my opinion. It works well for what it can do though.
I just finished an optic cut on a pistol slide and held +/- .0005 on my lug diameters using a spring pass on each. I’m more than pleased with that from a mill in this price range.

Absolutely happy with what im seeing so far, just hoping there will be updates in the future to achive the fullest capabilities.
