This is my second project with my cutter. I have tried to get through the Fusion 360 manufacture multiple times and I cannot get it to where it will simulate the cutting (which I did successfully on my previous project) and I am assuming you need to do so you verify it will cut. It looks like I have the cut paths correct, but when I run the simulator, it just sits there when I hit the start button. I have attached the .SVG file I am using and also the .nc file.
I am at a loss and any help would be appreciated. Project2.nc (1.9 KB)
I’ll agree with @TinWhisperer , you may have the speed slider set to slow. Try moving it to the right a bit to speed up your simulation. (If you move it all the way to the right, you won’t see the cut. It’ll just be finished.)
The IHS Springback + backlash line (G0 Z0.04) will add 0.04" to your cut height. Instead of FireControl generating a 0.063" height, you’ll get 0.103". While this may not prevent your cut from completing, I suspect you’ll get move bevel than you expect.
To resolve, reduce the Springback value in Post Procesing to -0.015. This will still provide 0.005" of Springback if needed. (Best case scenario is to measure what the cut height is with the given values and adjust accordingly.)
That is a great tool. I am out of town trying to set this up for when I get back. It showed me that none of the text showed up in the .nc file. It is literally just the exterior box cut that outlines the text.
I’m trying to figure THAT out…
This is what it is supposed to look like. Also, when I tried to upload the .svg file or the .dxf file, they would not upload.
Like Terrance said, that cut height may give you a really poor cut if the machine is setting the torch at 0.103 inches. With all of that lettering, it will be miserable to clean up. There is likely to be both top and bottom dross with a cut height of 0.103 inches. I had terrible dross when my cut height was 0.095 inches.
Any chance you can upload the Fusion file? (.f3d) From looking at your initial cut-file, there was only one profile, the out side. If you’ve made correction, please upload the latest version so we can see what’s going on.
Additionally, from your first cut file, it appears that the profile is not quite “square” to the table. I see ~70 lines of code to make a rectangle that should take ~8-10 lines. Possibly there’s a Fusion setting involved… Again, your .f3d will help.
I figured out that I was not doing the settings correctly and as Simworrx pointed out above, the fusion file only had the exterior box on it. I played with it and got it correct in fusion, then did the setup and postprocess and it came out well. I really liked the NCViewer site that TW recommended, that worked great and my .nc file ran fine in it. I still wasn’t able to get F360 to do the simulation, but I’m home now and going to cut it tomorrow because the NCViewer seemed to run it corrrectly.
ChelanJim, the sign is going to be for my middle daughter and her husband. They have 5 boys all under the age of 10, so that saying holds particular relevance to them and their daily lives.
Thanks everyone for the help, I really appreciate it.
