I know a ton of people are wanting an ATC for their MR1. I wanted to show what I’ve been doing.
Precursor: My machine has already been converted to LinuxCNC, closed loop steppers, and different touch probe. If you want more info check out @AlexW Github: GitHub - alexphredorg/mr1: Langmuir MR-1 configuration for LinuxCNC Just note that I had to do a good amount of changes due to updates of items from Linuxcnc. It’s inexpensive hardware but definitely can be a time sink to figure it out.
Moving on, a few weeks ago I was able to pick up a FM30F spindle off eBay for pretty cheap, this is not common to find these used.
Also, received a good amount of collets and Tool Holders, had to make room.
Since then I designed an adapter plate that will bolt directly onto the MR1.
This uses some 1/4-20 and 5/16-18 bolts with some clipped washers.
Slowly working through the electrical cabinet layout and redesign for air and spindle control using the Mesa 7i84u.
