I’m considering buying a Crossfire Pro but I would like to see the quality of the cut it produces on 1/2” hrs mild plate steel. I’m wondering if any kind soul would be willing to help me out by letting me stop by and see the machine and run a couple simple test cuts. No pattern work needed, I am just curious on how smooth the cut is. Thank you vey much
What cutter are you planning on paring with the Pro? The cutter you buy, and the condition of your air will make a big difference in cut quality. All the PRO table does move the torch where your code tells it to go.
Lots of good Michigan folks on here.
Im just south of Grand Rapids but I only have a RW 45 and have only cut 1/2" one time and it was not great. I have up graded the torch so it might do better, but would have to test to know for sure.
@Frank_K welcome to the forum.
@rat196426 has gotten some of the best quality I’ve ever seen. I know he has some great pics of some half inch he’s done.
I am in Howell Michigan, what plasma cutter you plan on purchasing and air set up? Air / filtration most important for quality cutting and diameter of airlines…
I don’t have one picked out I guess what I really need is help with that part because I’m pretty sold on the Crossfire table I just need to pick everything else out to get a quality cut on 1/2” plate. I don’t live too far from you, do you cut 1/2” plate?
After doing some research I’m looking at the Hypertherm 45 Sync
Well this is why I’m asking. I’m new to plasma cutting so any advice is greatly appreciated!
If you have the budget for it, you can’t go wrong with the Hypertherm. Don’t skimp on the air system. Do you currently have a compressor in your shop?
Excellent, thank you. That is the hypertherm cutter I’m planning on buying. Your results are really good.
I’m convinced the Hypertherm is the right way to go. Yes I do have a 60 gallon air compressor. I know that I will need to add filtration and a dryer for the air though. Any suggestions on that would also be appreciated.
What you need is somewhat driven by climate. I live in a dry climate in Utah so what works for me might not work for you. I’d get with @knick and @rat196426 and see what they are using.
Also you could search air drying on here. Lots of good info.
My Hypertherm is the non-sync, I chose to stay away from the sync cutter it was new on the market at the time and glad I didn’t purchase it…
You can come to my shop and check out set up, so you have a better understanding of things.
I will definitely take you up on that offer. How can I contact you? I don’t know if we are allowed to post our email or phone number on this forum.
I sent you my phone #
