Am i using the right consumables

I am mostly cutting 1/2" to 3/4" thick a36 grade hot rolled steel and am using a hypertherm 45xp and the hypertherm brand consumbales…electrode 220842 and nozzle 220941. I can get right under 5 hours of cut time on them…does this sound right and am i using the right parts for what i am cutting? I am not havng any issues. Just never really thought to ask the question. Thank you.

According to HT those are the correct pieces.

You are getting 5 hours of arc time cutting on a single set. That is golden!

Do you just change them or run them til they blow?

is that actual torch time or table run time?

I have been running them until i see issues with the cuts…but im gonna start changing them before that time i think.

It is torch time.

That is a good idea. When I do long cut in 1/4 I burn through a 4x8 sheet it takes around 4 hours arc time. They earn my respect and I change them.

I do believe rule of thumb if you run them too long it can damage your torch.

You probably have a awesome setup. Do you mind sharing your air drying and conditioning
equipment. We like to compare notes.:joy:

Oh what is your pierce count on a run like that?
