Well technically it is work clamp. A lot generalized it as ground clamp.
Being worried about it you could add s lead from the clamp and tie it to your table. I promise it is if but when that would cause cutting issues. It is easy to forget but best to try to remember.
That is why you will see others try to correct people when they say “ground” as it truly is a misnomer. I suspect many times, those being ‘corrected’ are not catching the reference. I have seen people say “ground clamp” who have been cutting for several years.
As Phillip says the technical term is “work lead/clamp”
You won’t forget to attach the work lead no more than 3 more times. I promise!
And if you do, on the first attempted pierce you will hear the difference and stop it immediately.
Tin uses a good strategy with most all of his designs/cuts. He creates a separate toolpath (Fusion) but you can do this with SheetCAM (layer) where he has his first pierce be in a waste pierce of metal. That accomplishes two things: 1) gets rid of the longggg first pierce that sometimes causes a defect looking cut; and 2) you will be able to observe if it is cutting correctly and not mess up your metal.
