Yeah, it’s not well made. I have 4 oven elements and will be fixing it up. I have all the parts to build an oven, elements, controller, hi-temp fan, but never got a round to it.
Put some steel casters on my newish powder coat oven today.
After laying on the ground drilling into the base, I remember why I don’t work on cars anymore. Grease monkey work is for the youth. Anyway, it rolls and weights a lot, should hold heat pretty well with all the plate steel mass.
The temperature controller is celius only so we fabbed a metal conversion chart with our galvo fiber and metal business cards.
I guess you don’t need a Vulcan 16 now… lol
You think smart buggers like you guys would have just had this as a reminder and done the formula in your head. ![]()
I love your chart by the way. I live in a very rural place right by the border and when doing HVAC work I have to be fluent in both because we have a lot of dual citizens and a lot of older people so I’m constantly have to configuring one thermostat for Fahrenheit and the thermostat next for Celsius.
My preference is Fahrenheit. For the simple reason that there’s more numbers on the scale so by it’s very nature it has a finer resolution.
I’m going to be waiting for the Vulcan 162 (108x54x48) to come out.
I bought this giant digital bakery oven a few years ago it runs off natural gas I had a fantasy about converting it into a powder coating oven when I purchased it.
and the rest of the story?
That’s it! I dropped it off by the shop and never ever did anything else with it. It’s still just a fantasy. But running this oven on natural gas will be a hell of a lot more economical then electric in my neck of the woods. We are currently using a digital pottery kiln for smaller ish things and we outsource anything big to a powder coater nearby. They have a 8x8x20 oven so we can do large rail sections and those benches that I posted before.
When I built mine I kicked around heating with gas, but I decided electric was easier so I went that route. Always nice when you have someone nearby, I can do most of what I make but I also have someone within about 20 miles that I use for bigger stuff.
8x8x20 I would need to P/C full time to justify that!
That local downsizing company called and “hey do you want an optical comparator?” Well, we all know the answer to that. Sure it’s 30+ years old but hey. We asked about their Romer Arm and Brown and Sharpe CMM, their keeping those.
I don’t blame them…
…like I would even know what you are talking about!!!

Living in a small town 20 yrs, you get to know some folks.
I live in a small town, maybe nobody likes me ![]()
Today’s haul, all their loose hardware. We pulled out about 75 bins of nuts, bolts and washers. Mostly M6 thru M20.
You got all this for free?
Nice Haul, Congratulations Man…….
Another @holla2040 thread that I will have to only reply with, “Bite me”
I fully agree and look forward to future ‘bite me’s.
