X cutting different than Y

I’m using the first cut file, I cut out the square and the x axis cut it at 1.99 which is acceptable, but cut the y axis length at 1.95. What can I check to get both sides cutting the same? I’ve dialed in the head, it seems to be cutting correctly, and the fact I can get almost dead on one dimension is good, but I can’t for the life of me figure out why they are different. So far, I check the tension, all bolts, and that there was no binding. My frame is as square as I can make it (maybe I can recheck? but seemed good). Thanks all.

This is most likely a motor steps calibration that is not available through anything but a third party.

When you make a full Y axis travel and return, does it go back to the original spot?

I.E. - Bring the torch all the way to the front of the machine. Zero the Y axis. Lower the Z to touch a piece pf plate, cardboard…something that you can mark where the torch touches.

Mark a line lengthwise on the motor shaft down the coupler and onto the lead screw. If one of the two is slipping, you will see the line gets broken.

Raise the Z up an inch or so, then run the full travel of Y to the rear without crashing. Then in firecontrol, click on Go To Work Zero. Lower the Z back down.

Did it return to the same spot? If not, then one or both of the couplers is slipping.

Double check to see if the X axis tube is square to the Y axis tubes. If it is at an angle, it could cause drag on the system and cause a loss of steps.

Let us know what you find.

@johnnycash Welcome to the Forum

Is every square like that? Try cutting a test coupon in each of the four quadrants on your table.

Do we have similar results in each area?

If we average the results of those four coupons what does it look like then?

Is the test coupon you’re cutting to the left hand side of the cut or center cutting on the line?

Welcome to the forums! Love the username! I would heed the advice of both @TinWhisperer and @Sticks . If we can’t get it figured it out in this thread, feel free to reach out to us at support@langmuirsystems.com as well!

Going to do a late follow-up on this in case anyone runs into the same issue. Relatively straightforward fix in that my alignment WAS NOT dead on, and after loosing and retightening a few bolts I ended up getting a much better result. Thanks @Sticks for the help. Sorry for the late followup.
