X-axis rails issues

Instructions say the x-axis rails are mirrored is assembly, but the rails I have are not the same. And one of the bearings they say not remove from the rail is installed opposite of the other one. The rails are the same length, but hole spacing is different.

Weird, @langmuir-sam have you seen this before?

Send pictures, please. Is it possible for you to have them backward? Whatever you do, don’t take off the carriage. It will be next to impossible to put back on.

I will go to the shop in the morning and see how mine is assembled. My machine came completely assembled due to software testing. I’m glad it did now.

The lettering on the bearings being opposite shouldnt be an issue. They can be installed both ways and function the same.

During assembly they do have you use that machined surface of the bearing as a reference. Not sure if that would make difference having them opposite. But that still doesn’t help you if the holes in the rail are not correct.

I could adjust the bearing mounts to match, the the separation would be shorter. I’m not sure how much issue that would cause with tension on the screw shafts.

I thought holes were different on each of the rails? I’m confused.

What is the problem?

If the rails are the same length the one on the top needs to be spun around it seems.

I agree. I believe one of them is backward.

If they are, the instructions don’t specify which side they go on. I think they should be the same position on each side so the travel is the same. The front bearing mount goes flush to the rail, the rail will only go one way on the right side, and it is offset about 1/4” off from the left

Can’t you loosen the set screws and make them the same? Or don’t I understand the problem?

Ok now I see. Does not make any difference if you turn rails 180 degrees?
What do you rails measure?

Not sure their process, same length as the other one, the holes favor one end. The good one I can flip it and the spacing on the end doesn’t change.

Mine measure about 23-23/32”
